Shipping And Returns

Every piece is sold final sale. That is an unusual thing to admit on a page most brands use to reassure you, so this page explains exactly what it does and does not mean — and what we cover instead.

Shipping

When it leaves

Stock pieces ship within three working days of the order clearing. Commissions ship when they are finished, six to nine weeks from deposit, and you will have had progress photographs at cutting, stitching and finishing long before that.

How it travels

Everything goes fully insured and signature-required, in a rigid box with the signed specification sheet inside. You get tracking by email the day it leaves the bench. We do not leave a bag of this value on a doorstep, and we cannot authorise a carrier to do so on your behalf.

Duties and taxes

Orders shipped outside the United States may attract import duty, customs handling fees or local sales tax on arrival. Those are set by the destination country, are payable by you, and are not something we can calculate, prepay or refund. We declare every parcel at its full commercial value.

Returns: why we do not take them

We are a workshop with one bench. A returned bag is not restocked, because there is no stock room — it is a piece that has already been made, already been carried, and can never again be sold as new. Absorbing that cost means raising the price of every bag to cover the ones that come back. We would rather build fewer, price them honestly, and sell them to people who are certain.

So stock pieces are final sale, and commissions cannot be returned once cutting has begun.

What we do instead is spend the time before the sale rather than after it. Message us on WhatsApp at +1 (555) 555-0100 and tell us what you actually carry, and we will tell you honestly whether a shape suits you — including when the answer is that it does not. We have talked more people out of the wrong bag than into one. That conversation costs nothing and is the entire reason this policy is workable.

What is always covered

Final sale applies to changing your mind. It does not, and legally cannot, apply to a bag that is wrong when it reaches you. All of the following are on us:

Damaged in transit

Photograph the parcel and the piece and write to us within seven days of delivery. Every shipment is insured. We repair or replace it, and we pay the shipping both ways.

A fault in the making

A dropped stitch, a burnish that lifts, hardware that fails, a lining that comes away — that is our work not being good enough, and there is no time limit on it. It is repaired free under the lifetime guarantee, whoever owns the bag by then.

Not what we described

If a piece arrives and does not match the specification sheet that came with it, it is not the thing you bought. Send it back and we will make it right or refund it in full.

Cancelling before it is made

A commission can be cancelled for a full refund at any point before cutting begins, no reason needed. Once a knife has gone through a hide chosen for your specification, that hide exists as your bag and nothing else, which is where the line falls.

Wear is not a fault

Vegetable-tanned leather darkens, brass dulls, and the shoulder of a bag you carry daily will soften and mark. None of that is damage — it is the material doing what it was chosen to do, and it is not grounds for a return. It is also, in ten years, the reason the bag will look better than it does today.
