Lifetime Repair
We repair our bags for as long as they exist, free, for whoever owns them. Not for ten years. Not for the original purchaser. For the life of the object, transferable, with no receipt required.
What the guarantee covers
Any failure in the way the bag was made. That includes stitching that gives, an edge burnish that lifts, hardware that breaks or seizes, a lining that comes away from its seam, and a panel that fails at a stress point. If the bag came apart somewhere we joined it, we put it back together and we do not charge you.
There is no time limit and no serial-number lookup. Every piece is identifiable from the work itself — we know our own stitching.
Why it is transferable
Because a guarantee that dies when the bag changes hands is a guarantee written for the seller. Ours follows the bag. If you pass it to a daughter, sell it on, or leave it to someone, the cover goes with it exactly as it was. The second owner writes to us the same way the first one would, and pays the same nothing.
This is the whole argument of the business made enforceable. We ask you to buy one bag instead of four. That only holds if the bag genuinely outlasts you, and the honest test of whether we believe that is whether we will still fix it for a stranger in 2070.
What is not covered
Accidental damage, misuse, and the ordinary consequences of a life — a bag left in a car in August, a dog, a scalpel, a cup of coffee, a flight of stairs. None of that is a failure of the making, and none of it is free.
But we will still repair it. Send it in, we quote before we start, and the price is the work and the materials with nothing added. A bag we made is a bag we would rather see repaired than replaced, whatever happened to it. We have re-lined pieces, replaced whole gussets and rebuilt handles from scratch. Very little is genuinely beyond the bench.
Patina is not damage. Darkening leather, dulled brass and a softened shoulder are the materials behaving correctly and are not repaired, because nothing is wrong.
How to send a piece in
1. Write first
Message us on WhatsApp at +1 (555) 555-0100 with photographs of the piece and the area concerned. Do not send anything before you have heard back — sometimes the answer is a two-minute fix you can do yourself with a cloth.
2. We tell you which it is
Covered work, or quoted work. If it is ours to fix, we send a prepaid label. If it is accidental damage we send a written quote first, and you decide.
3. It comes back
Most repairs take two to three weeks. Structural rebuilds take longer because they wait for a bench slot behind the pieces being built. We will tell you which before you send.
The materials make it possible
None of this is generosity — it is a consequence of construction. A saddle-stitched seam can be reopened and restitched. A burnished edge can be sanded back and rebuilt. Solid brass can be repolished. Glued panels, acrylic edge paint and bonded linings cannot be repaired by anyone, which is exactly why they are not on the bag. The reasoning is set out in full on the materials page.
