Made To Your Specification
Twelve commissions a month. Six to nine weeks from first conversation to the bag in your hands. You choose the hide, the hardware, the lining and the interior layout — everything else is the same work described on the craft page.
A commission is not a monogram on a stock bag. It is the same four bench stages, run for a specification you set, on a hide selected for your piece rather than pulled from a shelf.
What you choose
The hide
Colour and character, from what is currently in the workshop. We photograph the actual hides available in the week you commission and you pick one — not a swatch of an idea of one. Vegetable-tanned calf in the standard range; other tannages on request if we can source them well.
The hardware
Solid brass in a natural, darkened or high-polish finish. No plating in any option. Brass darkens with use in all three, at different rates.
The lining
Vegetable-tanned suede, colour of your choosing. Or unlined, which is lighter, shows the reverse of the hide, and is what most makers choose for themselves.
The interior
Card slots, a pen sleeve, a zipped compartment, a laptop divider sized to your actual machine, or nothing at all. Tell us what you carry on a normal day and we will lay it out around that rather than around a category name.
How it works
1. The conversation
You message us on WhatsApp at +1 (555) 555-0100 with roughly what you want — a shape from the collection as a starting point, or a description of what you actually need to carry. There is no form to fill in and no configurator — just a conversation. We reply within two working days.
2. The specification
We send back a written spec, hide photographs, and a fixed price. Nothing is charged and nothing is ordered until you have that in front of you and have said yes to it.
3. The build
A fifty percent deposit secures a slot in the month. Cutting begins, and the piece is on the bench from that point until it is finished. The balance is due when it is complete, before it ships.
4. The bag
Six to nine weeks from deposit, longer if we are waiting on a specific hide. You get progress photographs at cutting, at stitching and at finishing. The signed specification sheet goes in the box.
Why only twelve a month
Because one person builds each bag start to finish, and a commission takes longer than a stock piece — the layout has to be drawn, the hide has to be found, and there is no second attempt at a panel cut for a spec that exists once. Twelve is what fits without any stage getting hurried. When the month is full we say so and offer you the next one.
Before you commit
A commissioned piece is made to your specification and cannot be returned once cutting has begun — there is no second buyer for a bag built around someone else’s laptop. You can cancel for a full refund at any point before cutting starts. The full terms are on the shipping and returns page, and the lifetime repair guarantee covers commissions exactly as it covers everything else.
